Continuing Competence Program (CCP)
Annual participation in CCP is mandatory for active licensure.
Members are responsible for completing 2 learning items during each licensure year.
Continuing Competence is the ongoing ability through lifelong learning of a practitioner to integrate and apply the knowledge, skill, and judgment required to practice safely, ethically, and competently in their practice context. Through the privilege of self-regulation each practical nurse is accountable for attaining and maintaining competence, along with personal, physical, social, and emotional fitness to practice.
The Continuing Competence Program (CCP) supports Licensed Practical Nurses to achieve and demonstrate competence through the completion of annual continuing competence activities which includes both learning and practice in the profession. Through this annual requirement, the public can be assured LPNs are committed to ensuring competence through professional development.
